A former Royal Marine is undertaking an epic yomp (walk) from John O’Groats to Land’s End to raise money for charity.

Sixty three year old Taff Davies from Arbroath started his journey on May 2, covering a total distance of 1262 miles.

Taff aims to walk 15 miles per day and is due to reach Arbroath today (Friday) where he will enjoy a day of rest before setting off down the coast on Sunday, May 17.

He will have friends to join him at various sections of the journey and estimates the distance to Land’s End should take him 85 days.

Speaking to Taff on Monday, he was on track and fairing very well, looking forward to arriving in Arbroath.

He has taken on this walking challenge to raise funds for three charities: Cancer Research UK, Alzheimer Scotland and the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund.

No stranger to setting himself a challenge, Taff also walked from the Royal Marine base at Condor to Poole in 2012.

Anyone wishing to join him on his walk at any of the stages can text him on 07718074451.

He will be leaving from Morrisons car park at 9am.
