Police say people in Carnoustie may hold the information necessary to trace a man who has been missing for just over a week.

Officers in Fife believe missing 50-year-old Brian Binnie from the Valleyfield area may have been in the town over the weekend.

And now they are hoping anyone who may have information on his whereabouts will come forward.

Mr Binnie has not been seen since February 24, when he failed to turn up for work at Rosyth Dockyards, despite being seen nearby earlier that morning.

Sergeant Steven Bell said: “It has now been over a week since Brian has been seen and he has yet to make contact with friends, family or police.
“However, our investigation now leads us to believe he may have been in Carnoustie over the weekend and we are keen to hear from the local community who may have information that can assist us in establishing his current whereabouts.

“Anyone with information relevant to our investigation is urged to contact police immediately.

“Similarly, we continue with our appeal to Brian to get in touch and let us know he is safe and well.”

He is described as white, five foot, eight inches tall with a medium to stout build, short greying hair and a tanned complexion.

He was last seen wearing blue overalls, work boots and a yellow hi-viz jacket. However, he may have since changed his clothing.
Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101.
