THE BREADTH and depth of artistic talent in Monifieth will be on show to the general public later this month.
Grange Meadows Framing, 3 Whithorn Place, Monifieth, will feature in the Angus Open Studios programme which runs from May 24, to 28. Its aim is to promote artists, contemporary and traditional craftsmen and design makers in Angus.
In this, the second year of the Open Studios event, Monifieth has a sizeable presence. Jim Dewar’s dramatic watercolours are a must to see at his studio at 2 James Herald Terrace. Ruth Walker, who is exhibiting at 73 Dalhousie Street, is taking part in the Open Studios event for the first time. She works mainly on animal paintings in oil. Highland Hues hand-knitted hats are on show at the House of Memories, 55 High Street
Jean McRonald, whose favourite medium is oils and who has recently enjoyed success with silk paintings; Avril Cunningham, who will be showing her most recent series of mixed media paintings; Laura Maider who will be exhibiting her unique baby accessories; and Avril’s husband, Scott, whose photography will also be featured, are all exhibiting at Grange Meadows Framing.
