THE JUNE Beach Clean organised by Monifieth Eco Force at Monifieth beach coincidentally landed on Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee weekend, so members decided to celebrate the occasion by planting a jubilee silver birch next to the community garden at the sea front.

The tree was donated by Dobbies and Christian Gourlay of Monifieth Amateur Dramatics (MAD) helped Eco Force volunteers to plant it.

Earlier, some 20 volunteers had turned up to clean the beach and they collected 15 black bags of rubbish and various rusty items.

As usual they enjoyed the hospitality of The Van Diner and were looked after by the St Andrew’s Ambulance First Aiders.
