APRIL was a busy month for Monifieth Library with a number of special events being held, ranging from a colouring competition.

Book Groups: Book group one discussed ‘A thousand splendid suns’ by Khaled Hosseini while book group two discussed ‘Started early took my dog’ by Kate Atkinson. Both groups had lively discussions.

Bookbug: April saw the introduction of new Bookbug sessions. Some had as many as 27 children taking part plus their mums, dads, grannies, childminders, etc. Baby Bookbug takes place on a Tuesday at 10.30 a.m.; Toddler Bookbug is on a Wednesday at 10.30 a.m. and Bookbug’s story time is every Tuesday at 2 p.m. Sessions are free.

Chatterbooks: Members of the children’s reading group listened to a story written by library assistant Audrey Hadden based upon ideas they themselves had suggested. They also wrote a letter to a Chatterbooks group in America who have become their penfriends.

Seaview School had a number of classes for their regular weekly storytelling. Primary five children also had a grand tour of the library and carried out research in the learning centre.
