STAFF at Monifieth Library have reported that National Libraries Day 2013 was successfully celebrated on Saturday, February 9, with a story time and craft activity which was enjoyed by half a dozen youngsters.
They also extended thanks to everyone who had their photograph taken for the National Libraries Day display. It is still on show in the library if you want to come along and have a look.
World Book Day 2013 takes place on Thursday, March 7. Children across Great Britain will receive vouchers for a free book, which can be redeemed at participating booksellers.
Monifieth Library will be getting involved by having a prize draw for our customers to win a £10 book token. More details can be found in the library. You can find out more information about World Book Day online at http://www.worldbookday.com/ .
Nominations are now open for the Crime Writers’ Association ‘Dagger in the Library’ Award 2013.
This is a unique award because the short list is chosen exclusively by library users, readers and librarians – in other words, you! Previous winners include Mo Hayder, Stuart MacBride and Craig Russell.
The rules are: You are voting for an author’s body of work, rather than a specific book. Your nominated authors must be alive, preferably working in Britain, have published a minimum of three books and cannot have won the award before.
Votes are submitted through the library so if you’ve got a favourite crime writer who you think deserves to be nominated, pop along before the closing date on April 1.
