THE MSP for Dundee City East was at a major supermarket at the weekend to support their campaign against malnutrition.
On Saturday morning Shona Robison MSP was at the Sainsbury’s store near Claypotts Castle to help promote their Million Meal Appeal run in conjunction with charity FareShare.
The project will benefit more than 700 charities and projects across the UK and customers were invited to donate a food item to the cause.
Last year the initiative saw 1.2 million meals delivered to charities and community projects to help alleviate the suffering of families living in food poverty.
The MSP said: “Last year’s Million Meal Appeal was a huge success and I’m proud to be associated with it and to help to highlight the generosity of customers of this store towards helping others less fortunate than themselves.
“Apparently a statistic of the success of last year’s event was that the number of meals donated would have been enough to feed a sold-out London Olympic stadium 15 times over!
“Hopefully this year’s event will be ever more successful.”
