Muirdrum WRI

THE FIRST meeting of the new session of Muirdrum WRI took place in the Erskine Church hall on Tuesday night when the president, Annetta Anderson welcomed a large turnout of members and visitors.

The speaker was Moira Hammond, a charity worker for the Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW).

She explained the work the charity does throughout the world and spoke of her personal experience of the problems faced in Sierra Leone. Members collect ‘Pennies for Friendship’ each month and this money goes towards the work of the ACWW so it was interesting to learn just how important their donations are.

Competition results were: strawberry and redcurrant jam – 1, Jean McAllister; 2, Annetta Anderson: flower of the month - Irene Donaldson.
