A MONIKIE boy had a hair-raising idea as a way of helping out vulnerable African children, writes Jennifer Newton.
On Sunday, 10-year-old Krzysztof-Cameron Black had his blonde curls shaved off after being sponsored as a way of raising funds for orphans in Swaziland.
The special haircut took place at Holy Trinity Scottish Episcopal Church in Monifieth with Joyce Miller from A. Bell Hairdressing carrying out the sponsored shave.
Holy Trinity raise money on a regular basis to help those in need in their companion diocese of Swaziland.
And Krzysztof-Cameron, with the help of his 12-year-old sister, Annya-Natasha, found sponsors among his schoolmates at Monikie Primary School, his neighbours in Monikie, members of Holy Rood Church, Carnoustie, and in his own church in Monifieth.
In 2008 he raised over £200 for the same cause and this year he hopes to increase that to £300.
