New Rep spring season proves revenge is sweet

Dundee Rep Theatre has announced details of another exciting spring season which features work linked by a common theme – revenge.

A new version of the great Spanish classic ‘Blood Wedding’, Shakespeare’s thrilling early tragedy ‘Titus Andronicus’ and a dramatisation of the Charles Dickens classic ‘Great Expectations’ are three very different plays bound together by the common thread.

Visiting drama features ‘Sunday Mornings on Dundee Law’ by Mike Gibb, top class dancers and West End singers in ‘Broadway! A Night at the Movies’ and ‘Three Men in a Boat’ sail into Dundee following a hit, sell-out national tour in 2012.

Also included in the line-up is Agatha Christie’s record-breaking classic ‘The Mousetrap’ and more drama from Birds of Paradise Theatre Company with ‘Crazy Jane’ and Faux Theatre’s ‘Tron’.

The National Theatre of Scotland bring their riotous new comedy ‘Yer Granny’, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre’s ‘Romeo & Juliet’ and Stellar Quines’ ‘The Jennifer Tremblay Trilogy’ ensures incredible theatre this spring.

There’s ‘The Devil Wears Primark’ and back by popular demand ‘An Evening of Dirty Dancing’; for the younger audience members there’s ‘Sing-a-long-a Frozen’.

There is music from Dougie Maclean, Cloudbusting performs The Music of Kate Bush and for one night only ‘Thank you for the Music’.

Dundee’s The Hazy Janes return with an expanding line-up. From Japan the Yamato Drummers and Scottish singer-songwriter Horse also returns to the Rep.

Comedy this season comes in all shapes and sizes, from stand-up comedians Stewart Lee and Phil Kay to monthly comedy clubs Jongleurs and Just Laugh and big comedy drama with ‘Big Pants and Botox’.

Dundonian Garry Robertson brings another hilarious offering of Dundee life with ‘The Scaffies’ and for all Blackadder II fans ‘Edmund & Co The Dinner Show’ is a must. There is also the Rep’s Children’s Festival ensuring there is something for all ages this spring season.
