Business warning

CARNOUSTIE councillor Helen Oswald has spoken out against the recent Angus Council budget stating that business will continue to leak out of the town if there is no further investment.

The SNP group leader said: “While I’m sure the skatepark committee will welcome the £30,000 in the Angus Alliance budget, the £125,000 in ours would have guaranteed this project.

“Also without some council investment in the infrastructure, the Carnoustie Business Park will remain a pipe dream and business will continue to leak out of the town.”

The council budget, proposed by finance spokesman Mark Salmond went through with 15 votes to 13 votes for the budget proposed by Councillor Alex King, SNP.

Mr Salmond, who was supported by the Angus Alliance, said about his budget; “I have spread the budget around Angus, making it more balanced, to help as many groups and projects as possible.”
