News in brief

Roadworks imminent

CARNOUSTIE councillor Helen Oswald is delighted to see the schedule of works for the Carnoustie & District ward for 2012/13 includes a number of locations which she and local residents have identified as needing attention. They include long overdue works to the footway and carriageway at Broomwell Gardens, Monikie.

In Carnoustie itself, there are footway and carriageway works in Bruce Drive, Green Lane, Wallace Street and street lighting upgrades in Lingard Street, Chapman Drive, MacDonald Smith Drive, Woodside Terrace, Lochend Road, Sanderson Place, Newbigging.

Councillor Oswald stated: “Finally, I can assure residents in Kinloch Street that I will be pushing for carriageway and footway works to be started once the development at the old school site is completed. I will also be pushing for the speedy implementation of a more permanent treatment of potholes.”

VOLUNTEERS, staff and partners from Angus Independent Advocacy met on Friday for their winter social evening.

A total of 40 people from all the Angus towns enjoyed a delicious dinner and quiz evening held at The Old Brewhouse, Arbroath. The main prize in the raffle held after dinner was a meal voucher donated by The Old Brewhouse.
