THE MONIKIE War Memorial Hall Trustees were disappointed by the poor turnout at a recent meeting to determine the future of the facility.
The meeting was held on May 7 and was to discuss replacement of retiring members and to fill the post of general manager.
A spokesperson for the Board of Trustees said: “The Trustees of the hall have expressed disappointment following the recent extraordinary general meeting when only two people, other than the Trustees, from Monikie and Newbigging attended such an important event regarding the future of Monikie War Memorial Hall.
“It is difficult to comprehend the apparent apathy and it shows that while the community want to use the hall’s facilities they do not care enough to take part in or discuss its governance!
“All the work carried out by the retiring Trustees might as well have been for nothing as no-one appears to show willing to even turn up to discuss the future of their unique Hall and War Memorial.”
It is hoped that the next meeting of the Trustees on Monday, June 11, will attract concerned individuals and representatives of the various user groups. For information contact Charles Pilditch on 01382 370415.
