The Norwood Hall Hotel is a beautiful and very tasteful establishment situated along the Garthdee Road in Aberdeen.
For those days when only something of the finer variety will satisfy your taste buds - the Norwood Hall Hotel is perfect.
The hotel is a real gem. It is a stunning mansion, nestled amongst trees, which dates back to the early 1800’s and still retains its period charm.
With its open log fires and oak panelled interior it’s a real testament to the period.
The restaurant within the hotel has a very grand yet intimate vibe.
For starters, my mum had the cauliflower velouté with white truffle cream (soup) and it was “perfect” and immaculately presented.
I opted for the traditionally smoked salmon with horseradish cream, soft poached quail eggs and lime vinaigrette. It was delicious and the poached quail eggs made the starter a very tasty option.
For the main course, I had a 10 ounce rib eye steak, cooked rare, with peppercorn sauce. It was one of the best steaks I have ever had and was so tender and juicy.
Accompanying the steak was also a side of chips which were delicious and tasted like roast potatoes!
My mum had a mild Thai green chicken curry which was finished with no complaints.
Dessert consisted of an iced cranachan parfait, trio of raspberries and a strawberry Chantilly cream with crushed meringue. Both exquisite!
The trio of raspberries looked like a work of art on the plate and the strawberry Chantilly cream with the bits of crushed meringue was to die for.
The meal was topped off with two coffees and a selection of chocolate truffles on the side. Perfect.
The service at this restaurant was prompt, efficient and very friendly. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the restaurant room we were in has a selection of beautiful art pieces as well as a stained glass window and background music.
This restaurant is a must if you are looking for something extra special.
