MONIFIETH Community Centre Steering Group held their annual general meeting on Thursday, May 26, at the Monifieth Community Cabin.
Chairperson Margaret Copland thanked the members of the steering group for their hard work over the last 12 months.
She added that an Angus Council grant of £300,000 had taken them one step closer to the building of a purpose built activities resource centre.
The grant money is, however, conditional on the group finding a suitable site, getting planning permission and organising financing for the project.
To achieve this, they are engaging the services of professional consultants to carry out a feasibility study funded by the Awards for All & Angus Council Community Fund.
Committee posts were also confirmed at the meeting, and without any new nominations coming forward, the following office-bearers were re-appointed: chairperson, Margaret Copland; secretary, Anne McCluskey; treasurer, Alistair Robertson; minute secretary, Tom McCluskey.
Mr McCluskey also agreed to undertake the duties of Community Cabin manager on a voluntary basis, with the responsibility for the letting of the premises for a small fee to groups and organisations.
The Cabin is suitable for parties, functions, seminars, exhibitions and displays, and bookings can be made on 07729458077 or e-mail email@example.com.
