‘Old and Unusual’

AT A recent meeting of the Rotary Club of Abertay held in the Woodlands hotel Broughty Ferry members enjoyed an interesting talk by Stephen Dewar, of Curr & Dewar, auctioneers and valuers, entitled ‘Old and Unusual’.

He is the fourth generation to follow into the family firm that was started in 1862.

Prior to his talk he placed a variety of old and unusual objects on the tables and over the meal Rotarians were invited to guess what they were and how old they were. They managed to get a few of them right but only a few of them.

During his talk he discussed the objects, their history and how he came to collect them. He constantly referred to these objects as his “stuff” and had many amusing tales to tell of people he had met and places that he had visited in relation to his work. It was a most enjoyable evening.

Nigel Brown presided and the vote of thanks was given by Catherine MacPherson.
