The future of Carnoustie’s Panmure Centre lies in the balance as Angus Council considers service provision in the town.
Earlier this week the Guide & Gazette received reliable information that the future of the Kinloch Street facility, which has been at the hub of social education and engagement in Carnoustie since time immemorial, was under threat and owners Angus Council have not been able to dispel suggestions of its closure.
A spokesperson for the authority said: “We are committed to continuing to deliver high quality, effective services in Angus.
“To achieve this we have to make sure that services are delivered in ways communities want to access them while making the best use of our buildings.
“We are currently exploring options for this building however we are not looking to withdraw services from Carnoustie and we will work with the current users to find an alternative venue if we do move out of the building.”
