Pannie groups given breathing space

Angus Council has confirmed today (Monday) that some services at a threatened Carnoustie community centre will continue for the time being.

In December, the Panmure Centre, in the town’s Kinloch Street, was identified by the Local Authority as a facility deemed surplus to requirements and that over time services would be relocated as part of the council’s ‘agile working’ programme.

Prior to that, in April, the uncertainty over the future of the centre had prompted a petition to save it which eventually gathered over 1600 signatures.

However earlier today (Monday) an Angus Council spokesperson confirmed that the playgroup and some parent, carer and toddler groups will continue to operate from Panmure, pending a longer term solution.
