Double milestone for centenarian Jean

A Montrose resident recently became the first person in Angus to receive a milestone birthday greeting from the new Monarch.

Jean Burness, who lives in Fordmill Nursing Home, reached the grand old age of 100, which was marked with a gathering of family and friends to celebrate the occasion.

Jean was the first in Angus to receive a card of congratulations from His Majesty King Charles III, which was presented by Robina Addison by Robina Addison, Deputy Lieutenant of Angus.

Also present at the celebrations was Provost Brian Boyd, representing Angus Council.

Jean served most of her working years at Montrose Mill prior to retiring. Her late husband George Burness worked on the railways. The couple had Four children - William, Jean, Linda and David

Jean and her husband flew over from Florida just for the celebrations.... Jean senior is still sprightly and can tell many good stories from her long life. She adores her eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
