Pipe band successes

CARNOUSTIE and District Pipe Band had a successful day winning prizes in both piping and drumming categories at the Robert Wiseman Dairies Vale of Atholl Pipe Band Junior Piping and Drumming Competition in Pitlochry on Saturday.

Our picture shows, from left - Mark Donnachie, sixth Novice Piping 13 to 18 years; Holly Ross, third in both Novice Tenor and Tenor March; George Reid, first in both Chanter 13 to 18 years and Novice Piping 13 to 18 years; Mark Bertenshaw, award for youngest competing piper; Dhugal Paterson, third in both Side drumming under 18 and Tenor MSR; and Kerr Munro, first in Novice Piping 12 and under.

The band would be delighted to hear from anyone who may wish to come along and either start learning either the pipes or drums or from those who may wish to reignite their playing.

The band meet on Mondays at Burnside Primary School, Carnoustie, from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesdays at Panbride Church hall, Carnoustie, again from 7 to 9 p.m.
