A Carnoustie piper is rounding off another fantastic year by playing a series of concerts with one of Scotland’s top 70’s rock bands.
Last night (Sunday) Craig Weir (22) started a four night run with the Bay City Rollers at the Barrowland in Glasgow.
It brings to a close a year that started with performing alongside Queen at the SSE Hydro, playing in New York during Tartan Week and appearing at Germany’s largest folk festival with his celtic rock band Gleadhraich.
The gigs came about by pure chance after Craig met Rollers frontman Les McKeown at the Tartan Clefs Award last month.
Craig said: “We discussed using the pipes in their show during the evening and we exchanged several messages afterwards.
“It was pure luck I met him, but it was great as he was very enthusiastic about the work my band Gleadhraich are doing in trying to put the bagpipes firmly on the musical map with young Scots.”
