Pipers’ competition successes

MEMBERS of Carnoustie and District Pipe Band enjoyed a successful day at the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association Dundee, Perth and Angus Branch Solo Competition held at Loch Leven Community Campus, Kinross, on Saturday.

Prize-winners were: Chanter - 1, Keiran Kettles, 2, Kerr Munro; Novice Piping - 4, Mark Donnachie, 5, Mark Bertenshaw; Intermediate Piping - 3, Daniel Devlin; Novice Drumming - 2, Dhugal Paterson; and Under-18 Tenor Drumming - 3, Dhugal Paterson.

The event was well attended by lots of bands from all over the branch area and the competition was very tight. Carnoustie and District did themselves proud with lots of youngsters taking part gaining valuable experience on the way.

Pipe Major Ian Campbell said: “We look forward to next year when we can hopefully report on an increase in the numbers of winners.”
