A Broughty institution will marks its 150th anniversary next year with a series of events designed to help it continue to aidthe community.
The Broughty Ferry YMCA on Brook Street turns 150 in 2016 and as part of the celebrations there will also be fundraisers to bring the premises up to spec.
A spokesperson for Broughty Ferry YMCA said: “This presents an opportunity to raise funds to allow some much-needed refurbishment to be carried out to bring the Brook Street premises up to the modern day standards required by our clients. We are holding a number of events throughout the year that will be publicised in due course.
“I hope that people will come and support this worthwhile local cause, enabling a valuable community resource to continue to be available for new generations of users.”
First on the events calendar is a sports dinner which will be held in the Woodlands Hotel, Broughty Ferry, on Saturday, March 26, 2016.
The main speaker will be Peter Lorimer, the ex-Scotland, Leeds and Broughty United legend. Peter will be ably assisted by local raconteur and ex-St Johnstone and Forfar goalie Davie Nicol.
The Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be Jack Knight who will attempt to keep everything under control.
Tickets will be £35 which includes a three course meal and the entertainment including a game of Irish Bingo.
There has been considerable interest in the dinner already and the tickets will be on a first come, first served basis.
