Following the success of the Tartan Day Scotland Festival 2014, plans are currently under way for this year’s celebration of Scotland and the Scots, which will be held across Angus from April 3 to 12.

As always, the Tartan Day Scotland Festival, which attracts visitors from far and near, will feature several key events, including a commemoration of the Signing of the Declaration of Arbroath on April 6, almost 700 years after the historic event.

The Festival also has a tradition of featuring a popular programme of locally-run events and, in previous years, this has included fun runs, haggis hurling competitions, highland dancing festivals, farmers’ markets, special exhibitions, ceilidhs, pipe bands and live music. In addition, many local restaurants, pubs, cafés and bistros join in with the fun by offering special Tartan Day Menus, featuring traditional Scottish dishes or dishes highlighting Scottish delicacies.

To ensure as many people as possible participate in the Tartan Day Scotland Festival 2015, community groups, organisations and businesses are encouraged to get involved by organising a Scottish-themed event, competition or providing a special menu during this year’s Festival.

As always, events and activities taking place during the Tartan Day Scotland Festival, and the Tartan Day Menus, will be featured in the Festival’s online programme of events. This online programme will be available on the Festival’s website while events, activities and menus will also be promoted free on the Tartan Day Scotland Facebook page.

To be included in the online programme and featured on Facebook, organisers planning Scottish-themed events and activities and eating places planning Tartan Day menus during the Tartan Day Scotland Festival 2015 can submit information at www.tartandayscotland.com/submitevent or by calling 01307 473226 by February 20.
