Candidate welcomes support

PROSPECTIVE Labour candidate for Carnoustie Hamid Rasheed has welcomed Scottish Labour leader Johann Lamont’s speech at the Scottish Labour conference in Dundee at the weekend. Ms Lamont promised a return to traditional values, with ‘New Labour’ being replaced by ‘Real Labour’.

Mr Rasheed said: “Despite the housing budget being cut by nearly a third, Angus Council has managed to build affordable homes here in Carnoustie and across Angus. Having Labour councillors is key to achieving that.

“Creating more jobs in this way means the council ploughs money back into the local economy, and creates much needed affordable housing at a time when waiting lists and unemployment are both growing.”
