MP's summer tour continues with visit to training group

Angus MP Dave Doogan continued his summer recess tour of local organisations and business recently by dropping in to the Angus Training Group in Arbroath.

Top of the list for discussion with managing director Gary Talbot was the emergence from Covid, the intake of apprentices within the oil and energy sectors and the positive position that Angus Training Group is continuing to occupy within the engineering sector in the county and beyond.

The transfer of skills from oil and gas to hydrogen and renewable energy generally as part of the transition was also highlighted during the visit.

Mr Doogan said: “It was great to be back visiting Angus Training Group and Gary personally after an absence of nearly three years due to Covid.

“As an engineer myself the highlight was the tour of the workshop to see the latest Computer Numerically Controlled equipment and seeing the next generation of young engineers coming through developing their skills and knowledge.

“Angus Training Group have decades of experience maintaining the supply of highly skilled engineers into the manufacturing and energy sectors and it’s great to see them go from strength to strength.”​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
