New face for Labour in Dundee East

The Scottish Labour Party’s candidate for the Dundee East seat in the 2015 General Election has been announced.

Lesley Brennan, current Dundee City councillor for Ward Seven, will contest the Westminster Parliamentary constituency which covers Carnoustie, Monifieth and Broughty Ferry.

She said: “It is an honour to have been selected as the prospective parliamentary candidate for the Scottish Labour Party for Dundee East for the 2015 General Election.

“In these difficult times, many millions feel shut out of the slender economic recovery as energy bills soar, prices continue to outpace wages, and family budgets and benefits are squeezed.”

Ms Brennan holds a first class degree in economics from Abertay University and an MSc in economics from the University of Edinburgh. In 2010 she founded Vital Analytics Ltd., to provide affordable and robust business solutions.

She has a clear idea of where her priorities as an MP should lie. She said: “We need to end the pressure to reduce wages; provide consumers with better protection from greedy monopolies, and invest in the employment of our young people and in the under-developed potential of small businesses.

“More than ever, we need an alternative, a society built on fairness, social justice and equality.”
