Praise for big freeze reaction

THE SNP Angus South candidate, Graeme Dey, has congratulated the Scottish Government after it stepped in to help Angus Council deal with the consequences of the big freeze.

Angus Council has been given a £464,000 share of the additional £15 million the Scottish Government has made available to councils to deal with urgent repairs and help cover the extra costs of winter roads maintenance.

Mr Dey said: “Angus has just experienced its coldest December in 100 years and that has exacted a financial toll on the council, not only in relation to keeping the roads passable but also tackling the potholes aftermath.

“The money the SNP Scottish Government is providing is three times last year’s amount and that will greatly assist the council as it continues to repair the many potholes on roads across the county.”
