FERRY Councillor Rod Wallace said this week that he was pleased that “common sense had prevailed” now that the plans to simultaneously close areas of Strathern Road and Ballinard Road have been put on hold for a month.
The major work planned for this week had sparked fears of chaos for those travelling at rush-hour on the busy Broughty Ferry Road.
The Ballinard road work is scheduled to take place on October 17 after a review of traffic management.
The busy stretch between Balgillo Road and Claypotts Road was supposed to be closed for 10 days in order to begin resurfacing on Monday. This would have been at the same time as similar work was carried out at Strathern Road.
Strathern Road works are continuing for two weeks.
