Post war reminiscences

AT A meeting of Carnoustie Probus Club in the Station Hotel on Wednesday morning, Dan Hood told fellow members about his time in the Royal Navy from January, 1946.

After VE Day, a British fleet was sent to the Far East to assist the United States Navy following the surrender of Japan and Mr Hood was aboard one of these vessels. He described some of the many incidents, especially those connected with the daily ‘rum issue’.

Past president Alastair Wylie presided and gave the vote of thanks.

At the next meeting on Wednesday, July 18, the guest speaker will be David Torrie.
