Abertay Probus Club’s guest speaker came in from the cold for a special talk on an Arctic adventure at their meeting this week.
Vice-president Nigel Brown welcomed members to the Woodlands Hotel on Wednesday and introduced guest speaker Katie Lumsdaine, a sixth year pupil at Dundee High School.
Katie gave a fascinating talk on her recent trip to the Arctic organised by the British Schools Exploration Society.
During the three-week expedition she lived on minimal rations, climbed glaciers, slept in a cave and even spent 24 hours in complete isolation.
While she was in the Arctic Katie also studied ocean acidification and conducted a 24-hour river monitoring study.
As a result of her experiences Katie has gained in self-confidence and has formed many friendships.
The vote of thanks was proposed by John Ramsay.
