Probus speaker bonus

INSTEAD of one visiting speaker at Monifieth Probus Club’s meeting on Tuesday the programme featured two of the club’s own members.

The first was Dr Colin Walker who talked about and read some of his own poems and verses, and the second was Bill Steele who, in a talk entitled ‘True Lies’ touched lightly on advertising, ethics, politics and spin, demonstrating that it is important to think, not just shrug, philosophically.

Club president Peter Duguid chaired the meeting; Jack Baird thanked Colin and presented him with a cheque to pass on to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Ninewells Hospital; and John Grinyer thanked Bill and presented him with a similar cheque to pass on to Maggie’s, Dundee.

The next meeting will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday December 18 in David Lloyd Leisure, Ethiebeaton Park, when the president will again be in charge and the theme will be ‘Christmas Notes and Queries’.
