The latest Monifieth cross-country running event was held in Camperdown Country Park earlier this month.

It attracted around 50 young runners from Seaview, Birkhill and Murroes primary schools.

Jo Whaite, Active Schools coordinator, said: “This was a good opportunity for the children to put into competition practice their learning from training gained in the after school clubs kindly run by teachers and parents within each of the schools.

The route was around a mile, very hilly and demanding underfoot. Nevertheless, front runner Jack Dalgety, Birkhill, came in first with a very respectable time of six minutes 46 seconds closely followed by front runner for the girls Jess Quyn, Birkhill, in seven minutes 54 seconds.”
