Putting a smile on people’s faces

A LOCAL dental practice is hoping to smash statistics which say that visiting the dentist tops the list of activities that make people most nervous.

Throughout National Smile Month (May 20 to June 20) the team at Monifieth Dental Clinic will be pulling out all the stops to ensure dental appointments are less painful and more pleasurable.

As part of their campaign, the team will be holding an open day to give people a unique behind-the-scenes glimpse of the dental practice, including demonstrations of their high-tech chairs and equipment.

Throughout tomorrow (Saturday), lead dentist Gary Grime and his team will also give demonstrations on dental hygiene, as well as showing the fantastic smiles that can be achieved with modern day dental care.

Children will be encouraged to join in with goody bags and giveaways, and there will also be the chance to buy electric toothbrushes at trade prices.

Gary told the Guide & Gazette: “We realise that visiting the dentist may not be everyone’s favourite pastime, but we want to show people that we’re actually very nice people! The open day will be a great chance to find out how we look after your teeth using up to date techniques and equipment, and hopefully this will help put more people at ease when visiting the dentist in the future.”

In the lead up to the event, Monifieth Dental Clinic – which has just celebrated its second birthday – has been running an online Smileathon, encouraging people to post pictures of their pearly whites on their Facebook page.

They’re already well on their way to having 100 pictures posted, with the promise that Gary will dress up as the tooth fairy if they hit the target before National Smile Month comes to a close.
