A RACE night organised by a Carnoustie community group has seen their funds race ahead another furlong.
The Kinloch Centre Action Group held their race night in the Station Hotel, Carnoustie, on Friday, to raise money for the building of the new community hub. A grand total of £1,100 was raised from the 41 charitably-minded gamblers, and a raffle was also held, with the grand prize of a litre of whisky going to Councillor Brian Boyd. He said: “After a terrible losing streak for most of the night, my luck changed and the horse I owned won in the final race, leaving me £25 up at the end of the night.”
Rodger Brunton, chairman of the Kinloch Centre Action Group presided over the racing, acting as both pundit and impromptu stand-up comic.
He said: “All of the raffle prizes were donated, which was very generous of people. “I would just like to thank everyone who took part or donated to the cause.”
