Raising money for Kinloch Centre

A CARNOUSTIE fund-raiser will have a few unique items going under the hammer this weekend.

At the Laughter Lunch, in aid of the Kinloch Centre Project, organisers have revealed some choice items will be in their auction.

Kinloch Centre Project chairman Peter Murphy explained that impersonator Paul Reid had used his insider knowledge to their advantage.

He said: “Paul, through his football contacts, has brought to us a signed, framed picture of Wayne Rooney scoring a spectacular goal at the last Manchester United against Manchester City derby.”

There will also be a signed Dundee United jersey and football to bid for during the event.

The Laughter Lunch is an important step forward for the Kinloch Centre Group.

Mr Murphy explained: “This is our first big fund-raising event.

“Raising money is very important in the long term and also in terms of involving people in the community in giving their support.

“Preparations are going well and we’re expecting over 100 people at the Laughter Lunch.

“There are very few tickets left and we are looking forward to an exciting afternoon.”

The Laughter Lunch will be in the Royal British Legion Scotland clubrooms, Dundee Street, on Sunday from 12.30 to 4 p.m.

Guests will be treated to a two-course lunch, auction, raffle and entertainment from sports impersonator Paul Reid and Jim Leishman, footballing personality, poet and former provost.

Tickets are £20 and are available from The Carnoustie Golf Shop, Dundee Street, and from chairman Peter Murphy on 01241 852106.
