AT THE first meeting of the new year of Panbride Friendship Circle in Newton Panbride Church hall on Tuesday, the guest speaker was Anne Metcalfe, events and information co-ordinator of the Scottish Spina Bifida Association.
She explained all about the charity and about one of its holiday homes, Rebecca Cottage, which is situated in Carnoustie.
Anne revealed that the cottage is fully adapted and self-catering. It provides vital respite for families and carers supported by the charity.
The cottage sleeps seven people and is looked after by a group of 14 volunteers who take turns in washing, cleaning and maintaining the building.
Whenever the building needs repairs, the charity has always found Scottish businesses to be generous with their time and supplies. However, donations and fund-raising are still very necessary to keep the charity viable.
The next meeting of the group will be on Tuesday, January 29, at 2 p.m. in Newton Panbride Church hall when David Torrie will present a talk on ‘Comics’.
