Riley enthusiasts enjoyed Angus

Angus was a convivial host at the weekend to a gathering of over 50 Riley cars and their proud owners from all over the UK.

Edzell was where the party was centred for the 25th annual weekend rally of the Scottish Riley Enthusiasts.

Not only did the visitors benefit from one of the few hot, sunny spells lately, but they also enjoyed the freedom of the many scenic routes in Angus and beyond.

Several chose to tour Royal Deeside while many opted to make the most of the ideal conditions to take a boat trip out to the Bell Rock Lighthouse. Others preferred to take their time exploring the rest of Angus or take a tour of the Mearns.

A gala dinner at the Glenesk Hotel saw over 100 happy guests sit down to enjoy a splendid meal and an evening of musical entertainment by Ian Kinnear and friends.

On Sunday the group visited to House of Dun where they enjoyed a chance to tour the NTS property and sample the hospitality of the Café Dun where delicious boxed lunches were provided for all.

The weekend ended with a prize-giving ceremony in front of House of Dun with all he cars lined up against the magnificent backdrop of the Giant Redwoods.

The winning cars were led forward by Forfar piper Christopher Mowatt and the drivers were presented with their trophies by Laura Dunbar, wife of SRE president, Jim Dunbar.

The beauty of Angus and the friendly hospitality tempted several of the visitors to stay in the area for a few more days and many have already pledged to visit again.
