The volunteer crew and fundraisers at Arbroath RNLI are issuing their own call for

help from the general

public.

They are appealing for everyone to support the charity’s forthcoming national ‘Mayday’ fundraising event which will take place at Arbroath lifeboat station on Saturday, May 2.

The day will have a distinct welly-based theme, in a nod to the yellow wellies worn by the charity’s volunteer lifeboat crew members – an essential piece of kit.

So why not come along have a go at the ‘Welly Wang’ contest!

Throw a welly into the life ring and you could win a trip on the all-weather lifeboat, RNLB Inchcape.

Arbroath Ladies’ Lifeboat Guild have also organised a ‘Welly Walk’ from the lifeboat station to Elliot Burn and back.

The walk begins at 1pm and if you fancy joining in, but haven’t registered already, you can do so on the day at the lifeboat station.

There will be lots more to keep you and the family entertained with activities such as a bouncy castle, face-painting, flood rescue equipment demonstration as well as refreshments on sale and much more.

Last year, around the UK RNLI lifeboat crews launched 8462 times, rescuing 8727 people and saving 368 lives.

They are on-call 24/7, every day of the year, ready to respond to emergencies at sea.

All money raised through the Mayday fundraising events will support the RNLI’s lifesaving work.

Money raised for the RNLI can be used for a variety of things such as to fund crew training, buy new crew kit, or contribute towards the running costs of a lifeboat station.

So go along with all the family to support a great cause and have a fun day out.

Activities will launch at 11am and sail through

to 3pm.
