MONIFIETH Rotary Club has helped fund an exciting adventure for local school pupils.

Recently, the Rotarians presented pupils from Monifieth High School with a cheque for £800 towards their trip to Iceland later this month.

The 16 pupils and two teachers will join a trained expedition leader from World Challenge to complete the five day, 49-mile trek along the Laugavegurinn trail in Iceland.

The intrepid adventurers will learn about teamwork and leadership as they traverse the wild and beautiful landscape of the Fjallabak Nature Reserve.

The group will also camp out beneath the open sky among the unique colours created by the volcanic landscape.

The cheque was presented to the group by Rotary Club President Phil Leckie and Rotarian Nick Dey at Monifieth High School.
