MONIFIETH and District Rotary Club held their annual fund-raising golf event last weekend.
The competition was held at the Panmure Golf Club on Sunday, September 18, and has hopefully raised around £5,000.
The principal beneficiary this year will be Angus Young Carers, which supports those under the age of 18 responsible for caring for a family member.
A spokesperson for the Rotary club said: “The club was delighted to have the support of many sponsors and donors and an excellent maximum entry of 42 teams of three from many parts of the country.
“In particular the club is grateful to Panmure Golf Club for the use of their magnificent course and clubhouse.”
At the end of a long day, with occasional heavy showers, the winners were Scott Brothers Cats team, with the impressive total of 83 points. The team members were Vince McCann, George Suttonwood and George Jarron.
Runners-up were the Gorilla Corrosion team of Colin Kennedy, Colin Kennedy jnr and James Cromar, with 80 points. Barloworld 4, Ian McMenamy, Craig Pringle and Willie Blatner, were third with 77 points.
Club president Mike Leonard said: “A great deal of effort goes into making an event like this a success.
“It would not be possible without the generous support of so many sponsors, donors and team entrants.
“We are most grateful to them all and are delighted that a number of charities will benefit, in particular Angus Young Carers.”
