ANGUS Council has agreed to continue membership of a scheme which allows local businesses to bid for public sector contracts.
The local authority shall continue to pay £3,000 a year to be part of the Supplier Development Programme hosted by Glasgow City Council until 2013.
The initiative was established to provide support, funding assistance and complementary training to small companies.
The council’s infrastructure services committee unanimously approved proposals and convener David May said it was important for the local economy that firms were informed as soon as possible with regards to tendering for contracts.
He said: “Angus Council is committed to supporting the small and medium sized business community in Angus.
“Membership of the Supplier Development Programme adds to our extensive package of business support services and helps local businesses to become better at bidding for contracts to the benefit of the local economy.”
