CARNOUSTIE’S iconic sail-shaped banners were taken down this week in preparation for the busy summer season.
The signs, which have become quite shabby will be taken down and repainted using polychromatic paints and a polychromatic laminate.
It is believed the new paint will last five to seven years, and was asked for by Councillor Brian Boyd last month.
He said: “I asked the council to tidy up the banners as they had become quite weatherbeaten.
“They weren’t laminated last time and as the workmen took the banners down I could see the paint flaking off in their hands.”
According to the workmen, the repainted signs will be back up by July 25.
