There are only a few more hours left in a charity Internet auction which hopes to raise funds for a Carnoustie football project.
A unique lot is currently on Internet auction site eBay, ending at 1.40pm tomorrow (Saturday), offering bidders the chance to own a piece of Tottenham Hotspur’s history and also help Carnoustie Panmure SCIO raise funds for their much-needed 3G football pitch project.
With bids approaching the £300 mark as we went to print there appears to be a fair bit of interest in the autographed Spurs shirt, which features the signatures of the legendary Alan Gilzean, Steve Perryman MBE and the entire 2014/15 season squad from White Hart Lane.
A spokesperson for Carnoustie Panmure said: “Tottenham Hotspur legend Alan Gilzean has strong links to the club and is a regular visitor to the town and has kindly signed the shirt along with Steve Perryman MBE and the entire 2014/15 squad including Hugo Lloris, Younès Kaboul, Eric Dier, Federico Fazio, Kyle Walker, DeAndre Yedlin, Benjamin Stambouli, Etienne Capoue, Paulinho, Mousa Dembélé, Ryan Mason, Nabil Bentaleb, Christian Eriksen, Cristian Ceballos, Érik Lamela, Andros Townsend, Nacer Chadli, Roberto Soldado, Emmanuel Adebayor and Harry Kane.
“Alan Gilzean enjoyed a glittering career as a Tottenham player, quickly changing his style of play from a prolific striker to an intelligent and creative forward, forming a famed partnership alongside crowd favourite Jimmy Greaves.”
His career at Spurs includes an FA Cup title in 1967 and League Cup wins in 1971 and 1973. He played for Scotland 22 times, scoring 12 goals and was inducted into the Scottish Football Hall of Fame in 2009.
Steve Perryman MBE currently holds the Spurs record for most first team appearances, an impressive 866 over a 17 year career with the club from 1969 to 1986, which included several cup wins.
Carnoustie Panmure SCIO’s next 3G pitch fundraiser is the ‘Party@Pitskelly’ on August 29. There will be live music, entertainment, BBQ, a variety of stalls and much more.
