SPECULATION within Monifieth is rife with regard to the proposed building of a Monifieth Resource Centre. The main interest centres on the facility’s size and location.
Work is not yet complete on the professional feasibility study being carried out by AIM Design for Monifieth Community Resource Group (MRCG), which is working on behalf of the community.
Chairman Margaret Copland said that it is of prime importance that the findings of the study be made available to local groups, organisations and residents as soon as is possible. This will be done at a venue and date yet to be decided when there will be an opportunity to hear the results of the questionnaires and surveys carried out over several weeks.
Mrs Copland stressed that the results and conclusions will be proposals for discussion and for consideration by all interested parties. Meanwhile, the Community Cabin, a temporary solution to the need for meeting accommodation within Monifieth, continues to be leased by many groups of varying interests, including Tai Chi, Crafty Allsorts and a Friday Night Youth Group, as well as many organisations which use the premises for talks, coffee mornings, craft fairs, etc. The MCRG and cabin management team are all volunteers working on behalf of the community. What is needed is more volunteers.
MCRG meetings are held on the last Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Community Cabin.
