MSP FOR Angus South Graeme Dey has welcomed the distribution of awards totalling £5,585 across his constituency as part of the Big Lottery Fund’s 2014 Communities programme.
One of the recipients was Monifieth Ladies’ FC which received a £1,345 award to supply football coaches for the delivery of football to girls of all ages and to liaise with primary and secondary schools to offer taster sessions.
This grant will fund training balls, floodlight pitch hire, eight match balls, cones, poles, bibs and publicity.
Mr Dey said: “It is always pleasing to see local organisations being recognised for their efforts in getting people of all ages into sport or exercise.
“I have no doubt that the award will be welcomed with open arms and will help provide vital sports kit and useful resources.”
Babbling Bonanza information session
MONIFIETH young people were the focus of a series of information sessions and fun activities in the town on Thursday night.
A series of discussions involving Tayside Council for Alcohol, Tayside Fire and Rescue, Barnardo’s, Penumbra and young persons’ health workers was held in the Community Learning and Development Centre, as part of the Babbling Bonanza.
The event was organised by Angus Youth Action, in partnership with Angus Council’s community learning and development service, and afterwards the young people took part in graffiti art, circus skills, jamfest and arts and crafts activities.
