THE ANNUAL inspection and presentation evening of Monifieth St Andrew's Ambulance Company was held in the Panmure Church halls on Monday.
The inspecting officer was Tom Cairns, who was accompanied by his wife, Helen, and guests included George McLean MBE commandant of the Forfar company; his colleague from Forfar, David Piggot, George Rhind, Andrew Child and Dr Malcolm MacLean.
There was also a good turnout of parents and grandparents.
The evening commenced with the company report, which indicated a rise in public duties, including those in Monifieth. Three new members from the Standard Class of 2008 - Lisa Thornton, Tracey MacKay and Alexander MacKay - had joined the company. Danny McGurk has moved up into the company from the Cadet Company.
Members of the Cadet Company have been busy working on their First Aid Certificates and the President's Award.
Company members were then put to the test in first aid scenarios, which were watched by the Inspecting Officer.
Trophies and certificates were presented to the following: First-year Cup - Tracey MacKay; Junior Cup - Beth MacKenzie; Special Award - Timothy Ness; and Edward Traynor Trophy - Judith Child.
Standard First Aid certificates - Alwyn Bolton, Gillian Bolton, Victoria Boyle, Edith Christie, John Christie, Calum Deuchar, Aileen Dunbar, Katrina Dunbar, Ian Duncan, Claire Grieg, Julian Kidd, Alexander MacKay, Tracey MacKay, Seonaid McGurk, Simon Marden, Fraser Murphy, John Ness, Sarah Pelting, Nicky Robertson, Christopher Smith and Lisa Thornton.
Junior First Aid certificates - Glenn Burnett, Calum Cormack, Ewan Lindsay, Sarah Marshall, Heather McAteer, Danny McGurk, Kieran McGurk, Beth McKenzie, Kirsty Melville, Timothy Ness.
Officer Training certificate - Seonaid McGurk.

Timothy Ness and Kieran McGurk attended the final of The Cadet of the Year Award. Both received certificates of attendance and Timothy came second in the competition.

The next Standard First Aid certificate and Junior certificate classes commence on at 7 p.m. on Monday, September 7, in the Panmure Church hall. Following meetings commence at 7.30 p.m.
