Angus Ahead are looking for the ‘stars of our community’ to come forward and apply for the Angus Ambassador Awards.

The awards are presented to the local people, businesses, communities and organisations whose achievements and ambitions have made a special contribution to Angus.

Although many entries have already been received, there is still time to enter before the closing date on Friday, September 14 at 5 p.m.

There are six categories in the 2012 Angus Ambassador Awards.

The awards are: The Entrepreneurial Angus Award, The Pride of Angus Award, The Creative Angus Award, The Go Ahead Angus Award, The Welcome Angus Award and The Aspiring Youth Award.

Helen Oswald, provost of Angus and chair of the Angus Ambassador Awards judging panel, said: “The Angus Ambassador Awards are a chance to publicly recognise those whose innovations, business skills, talents, creativity or work in the community highlight the qualities that ensure Angus continues to be a first class place to live, work, visit and do business.

“There’s always an amazing diversity of winners of Angus Ambassador Awards but they all have one thing in common,” continued the Provost.

“They are always incredibly well-deserved recipients of these prestigious awards.

“In 2011 the overall winner and the Angus Ambassador of the Year was Paul Grant of Mackays Ltd, who was a significant local employer and a supporter of the local community in many different ways.”

Awards were also presented to retired sheriff Norrie Stein who has devoted countless hours to pioneering youth project, the CAFE Project.

Also recognised was young Carnoustie musician Ross Knight who is one of the top students at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Judging will take place following the application deadline and the winners will be announced at the awards ceremony held at the Carnoustie Golf Hotel on Friday, November 23.
