Camping is far from a dirty word for the 4th Arbroath Scout Group as they scooped a win that will take them to the National Camping Competition finals.
The Douglaswood Scout Centre in Angus hosted seven patrols full to the brim with top notch camping acumen, each winners of their individual district camping competition, hoping to get through to the the finals.
In a bid to win, the teams had to demonstrate slick camping skills including sourcing, building and cooking on an open wood fire as well as putting up a dining shelter, sleeping tents and a patrol tent.
They were inspected regularly on how well they areas were set up, cleanliness, hygiene and even their conversation came under scrutiny.
The 4th Arbroath Scout Group wowed the judges with their great allocation of tasks and dedication and will be going through to compete against the best campers from across the country in Fife in September.
Scout Leader Graeme Wallace said: “I am very pleased they won. They had a shot at it last year but missed out. This year they are extremely focussed and work extremely well as a team together. They allocate each other tasks and responsibilities. We’re rooting for them to do well in the competition in September and wishing them all the best for that.”
