Support on hand

TAYSIDE Cancer Support is a charitable organisation offering a one-to-one befriending service to anyone affected by cancer, whether it be patient, relative, carer or friend.

The service is completely free and confidential and is offered by volunteer befrienders who have undergone appropriate training to offer this support.

Tayside Cancer Support already has a well established support group based at Whitehills Hospital in Forfar. Last October, they launched a new group in Arbroath to which all persons affected by cancer are invited.

At these groups, they offer friendship, reassurance, support, talks on relevant topics, befriending and complementary therapies including reiki, massage, rising star, shiatsu and reflexology.

The group meets once a month on a Thursday evening and the dates for this year are:

May 16, June 13, July 11, August 8, September 12, October 10 and November 14.

All meetings are from 6 to 8 p.m. and are based at the Volunteer Action Angus building at 32-34 Guthrie Port.
